Two thirds of all workers
have either experienced or
witnessed bullying
INTRODUCTION BY FOUNDER AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE
Lyn Witheridge
Lyn Witheridge

"Our mission is to offer immediate support and advice both to employees who have experienced the effects of workplace bullying and to employers who wish to build a culture in which bullying will not thrive"

In the past year, I feel the Trust can be justly proud of the way it has achieved so much recognition, that it has now become the natural focus for the diverse needs and agenda that this subject elicits. The work we carry out has been hugely demanding and complex, requiring a range of skills, sensitivities and partnership working. No one should underestimate the amount of emotional and physical energy that has been given to this important work, but when like-minded people, who continually lend their support, time and energies to the Trust and its objectives surround you, then mountains are easy to climb.

I owe a great debt of thanks to all those involved both in the formation and the development of the Trust. With their support and true dedication to our continuing growth, I am confident that we will find creative ways to respond to the exciting and challenging year ahead.

"It is an unfortunate but hard fact that psychological bullying will always be a distressing part of workplace life but that does not mean it should be tolerated - either by those being bullied or by their management. For far too long, confronting this affront to decency, fairness and productivity has been considered a low priority by business. The intense suffering of so many people has gone unnoticed or dealt with as just an isolated and rare occurrence. The Andrea Adams Trust has done British industry and our wider society an invaluable service by increasing awareness of the issue, providing support for the bullied and giving management the means to tackle the problem. I am proud to be associated with their work."

"I have always believed that psychological bullying is one of the scourges of our society but when it takes place in a working environment it is not only an affront to people’s dignity but also very corrosive to culture and productivity in any company where it occurs. I am very proud of the work that my colleagues at the Andrea Adams Trust have done; though we all know we are just scratching the surface"
